Rising levels of Lake Naivasha have displaced over 5,000 people in Kihoto Estate, approximately 90 km Northwest of Nairobi, Kenya's capital. Their homes were submerged following increased rainfall over the past two months, with experts linking the rise to climate change. Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted more rains will continue falling and the flooding situation may escalate. As the world celebrates World Oceans Day, the threat of climate change to people living in catchment areas is real.
