May 2, 1808 marked a milestone in the history of Madrid, when its people rose up against the French troops, defying the orders of King Charles IV and Ferdinand VII not to attack the invaders.
The Historical Cultural Association "Volunteers of Madrid 1808-1814" one more year on the occasion of the Day of the Community of Madrid has recreated in the center of Madrid the battles of the War of Independence against the Napoleonic troops that had invaded Spanish territory between 1808 and 1814.
