Thousands of people joined the celebrations of the 50th anniversary of the 25th of April in Porto. On April 25, 1974, a military revolution, known as the Carnation Revolution, ended the dictatorship of the Estado Novo, restoring democracy in Portugal. Since then this day has been celebrated as Freedom Day.
