Three weeks ago, Kenyan public hospital doctors went on strike to demand full implementation of a 2017 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), payment of salary arrears, hiring of trainee doctors, improved working conditions among other grievances. Yet again today, the doctors have rejected a government offer aimed at ending the strike that has left many patients who cannot afford costly private hospital care in great distress.
