The Supreme Electoral Board (YSK) gave the election certificate to Abdullah Arvas, the candidate of the AK Party, who came second in the Van Metropolitan Municipality, where the candidate of the People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), Abdulah Zeydan, won with 55 votes. The decision not to issue Abdullah Zeydan's election certificate on the grounds that he is "banned" is being protested in many parts of Turkey, especially in Van.
