Palestine Rally on Land Day in New York, US by Jimin Kim / SOPA Images
Pro-Palestine demonstrators rallied in Manhattan, New York City condemning the Israel Defense Forces' military operations in Gaza. The rally took place on Land Day commemorating a 1976 protest against Israeli government plans to control land owned by Arabs in the northern Galilee area. Israeli police shot and killed six Palestinians in the 1976 protest. Annually, Land Day symbolizes Palestinian resistance to Israel. Since the war started on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health ministry said more than 32,000 people have been killed in Gaza, a territory ruled by Hamas. The death toll does not differentiate between civilians and combatants.
