The somber echoes of bagpipes reverberated through the streets of Everett on Tuesday as the community gathered to honor the life and service of Washington State Patrol Trooper Chris Gadd. In a poignant public memorial held at the Angel of the Winds Arena, hundreds of law enforcement officers, family members, friends, and community members paid their respects to a man who dedicated his life to serving others.
Chris Gadd, at only 27 years old, tragically lost his life on March 2 in a devastating collision on southbound I-5 near Marysville. His untimely passing sent shockwaves through the community, leaving behind his wife and 2-year-old daughter. Yet, amidst the sorrow, his legacy of selflessness and dedication to duty shone brightly as attendees shared stories of his unwavering commitment.
The memorial procession, a solemn parade of police vehicles, wound its way through the city streets, drawing silent reverence from onlookers who lined the route. Underneath a towering American flag, held aloft by two ladder trucks, Gadd's casket, draped in the stars and stripes, made its final journey, escorted by a solemn honor guard.
Fellow troopers, friends, and family shared anecdotes that painted a vivid picture of Gadd's character – his insatiable thirst for knowledge, his infectious sense of humor, and above all, his genuine love for others.
