Sunday was the warmest March 3rd ever measured in the Netherlands. In the region of Gelderland, the temperature rose to 18 degrees at noon. Because of these seasonal temperature extremes, flowers that are expected to bloom later are already blooming.
In De Bilt (which houses the headquarters of the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute) the temperature rose to 14.9 degrees. The previous record was 14.7 degrees and was measured in 1930.
