Demonstrators rallied in Manhattan, New York City condemning the Israel Defense Forces' military operations in Gaza. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and the Israel Defense Forces said their military will soon enter the southern town of Rafah in Gaza. More than half of Gaza's 2.3 million population are sheltered in Rafah living in tents and United Nations' shelters. Israel's war cabinet is reviewing a plan to evacuate people from Rafah before Israeli troops enter the city. On Saturday, the United States military conducted its first aid airdrop into Gaza to deliver about 38,000 meals. The U.N. said Gaza is at risk of famine following a pause in U.N. food deliveries to northern Gaza due to fighting and chaos in the area. Since the war started on October 7, 2023, Gaza's health ministry said more than 30,000 people have been killed in Gaza, a territory ruled by Hamas. The death toll does not differentiate between civilians and combatants.
