New Volcanic Eruption in Grindavik by Raul Moreno / SOPA Images
The new volcanic eruption started early in the morning of 14 January 2024. The new fissures opened up about 450 metres from the town of Grindavik and lava is heading in the direction of the town. Emergency crews were able to evacuate the entire population in time.
