On Sunday, December 10th, at 5 pm, a diverse group of journalists, friends, and supporters of press freedom gathered at Seattle's Jose Rizal Park for a solemn vigil. The event aimed to honor and draw attention to the tragic loss of journalists worldwide, with a specific focus on those who have lost their lives while reporting in Palestine.
The somber gathering in Jose Rizal Park brought together individuals from various media outlets and advocacy groups, all united in their unwavering commitment to upholding press freedom and remembering the journalists who have paid the ultimate price for their dedication to the truth. Speakers at the vigil highlighted the critical role journalists play in holding power to account and ensuring that the public is informed about events that shape our world. They spoke of the risks journalists face daily, from physical danger on the front lines to censorship and persecution by authoritarian regimes.
