Anti-WHO protest in Warsaw, Poland by Attila Husejnow / SOPA Images
Hundreds of people attended a protest in Warsaw against the WHO on December 1 - the last day when Poland can object to amendments to the International Health Regulations (IHR 2005). Organizers claim that after amendments to IHR 2005, World Health Organization will be transformed into a "super-ministry of health", and the WHO Director-General will have the power to issue decisions directly affecting the health policies of member states, as well as the scope of patent protection of medicinal products they grant. The protest was organized by the nationalist and far-right Confederation (Konfederacja) political party.
