Male pigeons have to feed their mate before mating. This mouth-to-mouth feeding brings the two sexes closer together. Diyarbakir Dicle University Faculty of Science Department of Biology Prof. Dr. Ahmet Kilic, stated that in the life of pigeons and doves, the man first offers food to his wife from his throat and this behavior causes the two species to get closer. Kilic, spoke as follows: "This feeding is more a bond of rapprochement between the spouses than feeding the belly. The parent feeds his offspring in a similar way. This behavior is also observed in different groups of animals."
