Religions coexisting in Jerusalem, Israel by Israel Fuguemann / SOPA Images
Jerusalem is a sacred city for three monotheistic religions: Judaism, Christianity and Islam. This religious diversity has led to a coexistence that is both friendly and conspicuous, although the situation has become somewhat tense since the attacks of October 7, 2023.
Despite the conflicts that have marked the city's history, the inhabitants of Jerusalem have learned to live together in harmony. This is reflected in everyday life, in which the three religions share public spaces, such as the Old City.
For example, in the Old City there are the Al-Aqsa Mosque, the Western Wall and the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. These sacred places are visited by people of all religions.
The coexistence between the three religions of Jerusalem is an example of tolerance and respect. It is a sign that, despite differences and tensions, people try to lead their lives as best as possible.
