Every year on the 11th of November at 11:11 pm people gather in the center to count down and celebrate together the beginning of the Carnival season. From this day a council of eleven meets up to discuss the upcoming carnival events. It's mostly tradition in southern parts of the Netherlands and often the Carnival Prince gets introduced as well.
