An incident unfolded in Seattle's Belltown area on a Saturday afternoon when a King County Metro bus collided with a building, resulting in the death of a pedestrian and critical injuries to another vehicle's driver. First responders rushed to the scene to address the dire situation.
The Seattle Fire Department sprang into action following reports of a vehicular collision involving a bus. The calamity occurred at the intersection of 5th Avenue and Battery Street at approximately 3:40 p.m. Their efforts included extricating a trapped 31-year-old male driver from the vehicle involved in the crash.
According to the Seattle Police Department, the man was operating a red sedan heading southbound on 5th Avenue when it collided with an eastbound-traveling King County Metro bus on Battery Street. The force of the collision caused the bus to veer off the road and tragically struck and killed a woman on the sidewalk.
Ten individuals involved in the crash sustained stable conditions, with eight of them promptly transported to Harborview Medical Center for further medical attention. The driver of the sedan remains in critical condition, as reported by the Seattle Fire Department. Firefighters at the scene confirmed that the impacted portion of the building was unoccupied at the time of the crash, ensuring that no further casualties occurred within the structure.
