Dismantling military equipment for scrap metal in Kharkiv region, Ukraine par Mykhaylo Palinchak / SOPA Images
Driving along the roads of the Kharkiv region, the closer you get to Donbas, the more burnt and broken military equipment you see on the roadside, in fields and forest belts. In one of these forest belts we saw a huge amount of burnt Russian equipment. When we stopped to take pictures, we saw several men and teenagers systematically rummaging through it. They were disassembling it for scrap metal, for which they receive 2 hryvnias per kilogram. They cannot collect more than 500 kilograms per day.
