The tradition of the fake peasant wedding during carnival dates back to the sixteenth century, the nobility played the role of the peasants and the peasants were the lords. In Nijmegen, Anja and Theo Wijlemans were the farmer's wedding couple, this year. The couple gathered at the Valkhof chapel, wearing traditional farmer's clothes and surrounded by people wearing vibrant costumes.
