Turkey and Syria have experienced the worst earthquakes to strike the region in almost a century. A 7.8-magnitude quake struck southeastern Turkey, which was followed by a second quake of 7.7 in northern Syria . More than 30,000 people are reported to have died as a result of the quakes and the death toll is still rising.
