Youths In Their Homes Photography project in Kibera Slum, Nairobi, Kenya par Donwilson Odhiambo / SOPA Images
The young Kenyan youths are driven into a competency of having their own homes away from their parents where they most importantly learn to tackle life through different challenges. The competition of having the best-decorated rooms filled with different designer outfits is one way of keeping away from daily life challenges such as drug abuse, teenage pregnancies early marriages, and negative judgments from locals. To most young youths having a home is the start of a new life and it comes with a lot of responsibilities to work. Unauthorized housing is the most lucrative investment in Kenya today and therefore for one to own a house with landlords having rooms to let at Ksh 1,500 ($ 12) to Ksh 5000 ($ 40) a month that is almost hard to earn for most youths with low-income jobs and therefore need an extra effort in their sources of income.
