Worshippers pay homage to Biagio Conte, a Catholic lay missionary, who was the founder of Hope and Charity Mission (Missione Speranza e Carità) in 1993, for poor and homelessness in Palermo. Conte died of cancer at 59 years, on January 12th, 2023, in his native city and his body is exposed at the church of Missione Speranza e Carità. Considered the St. Francis of Sicily, his funerals will be held at the Cathedral of Palermo on January 17th, 2023.
