There are many different species of bees in the world. A few species of honeybees are kept for pollination and honey production and medicinal products. In Kenya the most important species is called the honeybee or Apis mellifera. This is the species of bee that is familiar to farmers, they have cultural and environmental importance as pollinators. The movement of pollen between plants is necessary for plants reproduction and fertilization, both farmed and wild bees control the growth and quality of vegetation when they thrive, so do crops.
