As a measure to mitigate the impacts of climate change, the Kenyan government set a target to increase national tree cover to 10% by the year 2022, aiming at planting 1.8 billion tree seedlings between the years 2020 and 2022. Climate change has led to extreme weather conditions that have triggered an estimated 30 million displacements across the world with the global south being hardest hit. Experts are warning heating above 1.5 degrees Celsius will be catastrophic and they are urging for rapid global commitments to limit global warming.
