18 people were convicted by the Meulaboh Sharia Court of different crimes and flogged between 5 times to 10 times in front of the public on stage. Flogging is a form of punishment imposed in Aceh for violating Islamic Sharia law. Aceh is the only province in Indonesia that implements Sharia law as a positive law.
