The Barracks in Belgrade were abandoned buildings behind the central train station where refugees and migrants from Afghanistan and Pakistan took shelter on their journey to Europe. At the height of the crisis there was roughly 1500 people living in the Barracks irrespective of the conditions. The buildings were closed off in May 2017 and everybody living there given the option of being rehoused in a government run refugee camp.
