Parnas was indicted on campaign charges following his involvement in funnelling foreign money into U.S. campaigns. He and his business partner Igor Fruman were complicit in digging up” dirt” on U.S. ambassador to the Ukraine, Marie Yovanovitch as part of a compensatory action for then Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky who’s relationship with Yovanovitch was strained.
