The annual commemoration of the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River is celebrated by thousands of Russian Orthodox believers as part of celebrations for the Epiphany fest. Despite the unusual warm temperature that hampered the formation of a strong ice cover of lakes and rivers, several stations had been prepared in the urban area in Moscow, as the one in the Sokolniki Park, for believers who wanted to take the traditional plunge that is considered an act for washing out one’s sins.
