Local residents clash with protesters in Hong Kong, China by Aidan Marzo / SOPA Images
Local residents organized a roadblock clean-up event calling on local residents to clear roads obstructed by protester-made barricades. Over a hundred local residents dismantled barricades and road debris as protesters initially sought to hinder progress by throwing bricks back onto the road. Protesters and residents later clashed when several protesters were beaten by residents after protesters threw a Molotov cocktail from a bridge at residents gathered below. Protesters have erected numerous roadblocks along major roads of the city, seeking to paralyze the city and further pressure the government into giving in to the ‘5 Demands’.
