The Nativity Virgin (Virgen de Natividad) festival is the most important traditional celebration in the Peruvian town of Chinchero. According to the devotees of the Virgin, who carry their statue through the streets followed by musicians and hundreds of dancers wearing traditional costumes, the agricultural year begins after this festival. By this motive, they made a series of invocations to the Virgin to protect their crops and animals.
