The State owned Kalinin Coal Mine is situated in Central Donetsk City in the new separatist state of The Donetsk Peoples Republic, (DPR) in Eastern Ukraine. Since 2014 their area has been in conflict with the Ukraine. Despite the depletion of workforce numbers due to volunteers fighting on the front-line, it still has 800 miners. Approximately 250 are present on any one shift which lasts 6 hours. The Donbass region is still a well-recognised and productive coal mining location. Millions of tonnes are transported to Russia annually.
