The party’s two-day convention is being held at the Erfurt Exhibition Centre on July 4–5. According to police, around 31,000 people took part in the protests, while organizers estimated attendance at about 50,000. Demonstrators held marches, rallies and blockades of several access roads, including a section of the A71 motorway.
