Bangladesh is home to the world’s largest refugee settlement, where around one million Rohingya refugees live in the camps of Cox’s Bazar. Most fled Rakhine State, Myanmar, during the mass violence of 2017, joining earlier waves of displacement that began decades ago. Amid overcrowded shelters, limited mobility, and prolonged statelessness, the Rohingya have built vibrant community spaces, preserved cultural traditions, and adapted to a challenging environment. They continue to study, work, play, and celebrate life, demonstrating resilience, agency, and creativity in the face of adversity.
