Every year, on the Monday and Tuesday following the last Sunday in January, one of the most colorful rural carnivals is held in the Navarrese towns of Ituren and Zubieta. The so-called "Joaldunak" are in charge of maintaining this tradition of Basque culture and the protagonists of one of the most striking ancestral rites in the Spanish Pyrenees.
