South Korean President Moon Jae-In selected Yoon in July 2019 to lead the national prosecution service but Yoon later clashed with president Moon government's justice ministers over a prosecution reform drive which was one of Moon's major presidential election pledges. Yoon stepped down as prosecutor general in early March 2021. Yoon is one of leading candidates for the next presidential election of South Korea.
