Marmara Sea covered by sea snot in Istanbul, Turkey. Due to global heating, the blanket of the mucus-like substance is increasing day by day and threatens the environment and fishing industry. Sea Snot, which is described as forming as a result of the proliferation of microalgae called phytoplankton, has descended 30 meters from the surface in some regions of the Marmara Sea. The main reason for its growth is the water temperature in the Marmara Sea that was measured at 2.5 degrees above the average of the last 40 years.
