Kawazaki Industrial Zone in Kawazaki, Japan by Stanislav Kogiku / SOPA Images
The kawasaki industrial zone grew rapidly under the Japanese economic boom in the 60' and 70' of the last century. It quickly became the symbol of environmental pollution in Japan. In the 80' there were many lawsuits against the industry leaders to force them to make their factories and facilities more eco friendly. From 2000 to 2008 most of the problems got resolved and now the air is much cleaner, that you can see the Mount Fuji from there. Also the nearby Tama river became livable for animals and fish again.
