The Filomena snow storm left unprecedented scenarios in Spain due to heavy snowfall. In Madrid the snow left catastrophic scenes. Due to the Mediterranean climate that predominates in the Spanish capital, it had not detected a snow storm like it in half a century. Neighborhood groups, emergency services and municipal services work tirelessly to clean the streets. With the drop in temperature, the snow is expected to turn to ice and continue to cause problems. The Mayor of Madrid, Jose Luis Martinez-Almeida said that "normal mobility will not be seen until the end of next week" and the situation is "very serious."
