Authorities on Sunday 8th day of Ashura tightened a month-long security lockdown in Kashmir’s main city of Srinagar after breaking up religious processions by devotees who defied a ban. The processions was taken out during Muharram, the first month of the Islamic calendar which started on September 1 this year to commemorate the great sacrifice of Imam Hussain (AS) and companions.
