A rally takes place in Melbourne to demand immediate and comprehensive action on violence against women and gender diverse individuals. Organisers express concern over the lack of prioritisation of women’s rights by major political parties and criticise the inadequate response to rising rates of gender-based violence. The demonstration aims to honour victims of domestic, family, and sexual violence, while calling for systemic reform and greater government accountability. Participants emphasise that meaningful change should not depend on public petitions to prompt political action. The rally reflects a broader call for justice, safety, and equity.
