The decision of the Ministry of Justice to revoke the right to elect Abdullah Zeydan's, the Metropolitan Mayor candidate of the Kurdish opposition party People's Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party), who won the local elections in Van, was protested in the city of Diyarbakir. Participants in the protest organized by 'Amed Labor and Democracy Platform' in Rojava Park later staged a sit-in protest for a while. The mayoral certificate of DEM Party member Abdullah Zeydan, who won the election with 55 percent of the votes, was given to Abdullah Arvas, the candidate of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AK Party), who finished the election in second place with 27 percent of the votes.
