The 'Solution of the Kurdish Problem and Peace Conference', organized by the Human Rights Association Headquarters and Diyarbakir Branch, started in Diyarbakir, at Mitannia Regency Hotel. The conference will last two days (March 16-17). More than a hundred human rights defenders, politicians, academics and journalists are attending the conference.
Armed conflicts between the Kurdish armed organization Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and Turkish security forces have been going on for 40 years. Solution talks between the two sides resulted in an agreement between 2013 and 2015, but conflicts started again soon after. Around 50 thousand people died on both sides in the conflict.
