The festivity of Sant Jordi is celebrated in conjunction with Book Day and the Fair of Roses, symbols of culture and love. Knight Saint Jordi died on April 23, 303.The cult of Saint Jordi was established in Catalonia during the 8th century but it is at the end of the 19th century, with the Catalan Renaixença that installed as the most celebrated patriotic, civic and cultural day in Catalonia. The streets of the cities and towns of Catalunya are filled with stalls with books and roses for sale. Tradition orders that man should give a rose to his partner and the woman a book in turn.
