Every March, for 33 years now in Tacuarembó, a town 400 kilometers from Montevideo, the Capital of Uruguay, is celebrated the most important event in the country, "La Patria Gaucha" (The Gaucho Homeland) The event lasts six days, and calls more than fifty thousand people from all over the country and the world. Four thousand riders meet to parade down the main street of the town and the best of them compete for the first prize at the horse rodeo. "La Patria Gaucha" is a reason to celebrate Uruguayan traditions, where people reaffirm their cultural roots and celebrate where they came from.
