Boris Lurie (1924-2008) is an American artist of Jewish origin who was born in Leningrad (today St. Petersburg). In August 1941, the Germans began deporting the local Jewish population to the ghetto in Riga, where Boris Lurie spent his childhood. His Grandmother, mother, sister and beloved were shot in a forest near Rumbuli in the Riga suburbs in December 1941. his work is closely related to this experience during the Holocaust. The motifs appearing in his works are photos from concentration camps, the Star of David or photographs of pin-up girls cut out from magazines. Boris Lurie work is being exhibit at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Krakow until February 2019.
