The Chinese Charity Care Centre (CCCC) event was organised by the Charity Association of Chinese in Botswana (CACB), in their partnership with the Tsholofelong Children and Youth Trust. The objective of the event was to ensure poor children in Naledi are not only made aware of the struggles children in Soweto, South Africa faced during the 1976 uprising when demanding better educational conditions, but also they took part in beauty pageant that was meant to encourage them to be hygienic, while inspiring them to be competitive and confident. For the children, the day was filled with food, and laughter. The event was held in Naledi ward, a community that’s a symbol of poverty in the nation’s capital city Gaborone.
