Chinese New Year is the first day of the New Year in the Chinese calendar, which differs from the Gregorian calendar. It is also known as the Spring Festival or the Lunar New Year. Traditionally, the celebrations start from the evening before the first day to the 15th day of the first calendar month. The 15th day is also known as Lantern Festival. In 2018, the first day of the Lunar New Year is on Friday, 16 February, initiating the year of the Dog.
